New website celebrating 5 years & commitment to the future!

CitizenScience.Asia from concept to where it is today has already been on a journey for 5 years. Since my post to celebrate Citizen Science Day 3 years ago, the world and our place in it has progressed dramatically. The annual celebration for citizen science has grown to become all of April. Hong Kong, where I am based, is recovering its footing coming through civic unrest and global pandemic. Our serendipitous spark of effort has extended its reach across the region, expanded its online content library and been formalized as a charitable organization. I am very proud of our achievements and of course a testament to the amazing people who have been involved to make it happen, whether in leadership roles, as ambassadors or as interns!

As we engaged folks around the region who are both already on their own citizen science journey or just starting out in their adoption of it, we have been constantly amazed by the positive reception for what we are doing. The need to connect as a community, share achievements, and learn from each other takes effort and they appreciate a lead in taking it forward. The thing that was constantly asked of us though is do you have a website? While we have had a presence on Facebook and subsequently on majority of social media, the need for a proper landing page to bring together our efforts was evident.

Today we launch our brand new website citizenscience.asia in the hopes of providing citizen scientists near and far, a one-stop portal for what they require to explore, learn and contribute towards citizen science. We look forward to our site being an essential resource in helping Asia play its critical part in the citizen science movement. From knowledge discovery in the context of STE(A)M advancement to progress in the Sustainable Development Goals as we march towards 2030, our new home will evolve together with the region.

Please bookmark and visit us often as we make incremental enhancements and content over time. We look forward to your feedback or suggestions. Join us in building connections, capacity and conversations for citizen science in Asia!
