Join CitizenScience.Asia for a webinar to celebrate Citizen Science month!

We are pleased to announce our first ever webinar organized, in conjunction with our friends at scistarter. Learn first hand about citizen science work happening in Asia around biodiversity, and how you can get involved.

We’ve now entered Citizen Science Month, and with Earth Day and City Nature Challenge kicking off in a few days this is a big time of the year for the citizen science community. With the coronavirus lockdown putting the breaks on a lot of these long planned events (see our post on what is still carrying on), we are happy to be joining the growing number of exciting virtual events keeping peoples spirits up in this difficult time. And pleased to be able to make the voices of citizen scientists in Asia heard. We’ve got a great line-up of speakers in this zoom webinar spanning this vast and bio-diverse continent, providing insights from citizen science practitioners in Bangladesh, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Being coordinated for the start of City Nature Challenge 2020 weekend the topic is timely as the them this month is talks that will cover a biodiversity theme. Bring your questions as we’ll make sure its an interactive session and you’ll have a chance to communicate with our knowledgeable speakers.

Dr. Cheng-Tao Lin is organizing City Nature Challenge in Chiayi, and will talk about his experience there and the great participation from a number of Taiwanese cities this year. City Nature Challenges utilizes the iNaturalist app, and our second keynote from Safiqul Islam will cover a similar approach to catalogue and capture biodiversity data in Bangladesh using the WildMentor App. You can see the lineup below, and don’t forget to sign up using the link below. We thank our friends at scistarter for helping to organize this as part of Citizen Science Month. You may have already seen the social media takeover we did with them in the build up to this month.

The Webinar will be 6pm-8pm Hong Kong Time/10am–12pm UTC on Friday 24th April, and include the following speakers, with time for Q&A’s after:
