The Mekong Environment Forum, or MEF, http://www.mekongenvironmentforum.org is a non-for-profit and independent policy forum for environmental scientific information, news and studies of the Mekong-nurtured ecosystems and wetlands, including the Lower Mekong Delta.
The MEF was formed in June 2017, in response to the public’s growing concern about the impacts that Mekong mainstream dams and climate change would pose on the Lower Mekong Delta’s water and food security, and the livelihoods of millions of people. Out of the shared passion for Mekong environment and wildlife, Nguyen Minh Quang, James Borton, and Mikio Oishi jointly established the MEF forum, which operates in cooperation with Can Tho University’s administrative support.
Citizen Science workshops are held by MEF to provide information to local fishers and farmers on how to document environmental issues such as salinity, rising sea level, and industrial pollution in waterways. In order to map, understand and learn from citizen science activities in this region, CitizenScience.Asia ask your assistance in answering a few questions. These address the role of citizen science in your work and the trends you see in expanding platforms for public to engage in the collection and analysis of data to improve environmental conditions in their communities.
